Investors are seeking solid credibility and integrity from the principals they place their money with. Frankly, this characteristic is a major driver behind the search for and attempt to verify experience and business sense. Investors feel that if they can establish solid experience credentials and proven skills that they are establishing credibility. Unfortunately credibility is perhaps more difficult to determine than simply nailing down the principal's past experiences, identifying supposed skill sets, or checking references. Additionally, assuring integrity is perhaps even more difficult to clearly define and assure.
